Yesterday, I learned that riding on “grooved pavement” for more than 10 seconds feels like straddling a giant vibrator. Not in a good way. I can’t imagine what riding real pave feels like. Avoid Comm Ave for a while if you don’t enjoy the sensation of clutching a dryer while someone violently shakes you.

oh, rest days
April 27th, 2010 · 5 Comments · rest day
We’re sitting, as usual, side by side, at mostly the same place where we’ve sat for the past four days or so, although I guess we were a few seats down this time. There was a half-finished, forgotten murky cup of milky sweetness that smelled like a chai latte, the cold cup making the milk [...]

“I think my hamstring’s done for the season,” I said. “The season hasn’t even started,” Mike responded. “Exactly.” Yeah, I’ve complained about it a lot. It’s still weirdly tight and uncomfortable, one main reason I try to walk around everywhere after I get off the bike for the day. I’ve stretched it in all different [...]

It was almost picnic weather yesterday…so in the spirit of spring [and the new logo courtesy of Gage & Desoto], here is a long overdue Velo Bento: A Whole Foods whole wheat pita stuffed with spinach, oven-roasted turkey, and a dollop of cranberry sauce. Orange and some organic string cheese on the side. All in [...]
less miles, more gears

And [...]

So you know how a few weeks back I posted about the dearth of women’s jerseys without the flowers and all that other lame shit all over it? Well, a bunch of you suggested a bunch of different brands, and naturally I checked them all out. But one…one stood out. I thought I had my [...]

stumbling in stilettos
April 14th, 2010 · 2 Comments · general stuff, hanging out
Track bikes are to ‘cross frames what stilettos are to Crocs. Not everyone can wear them, much less wear them well. To a good portion of the population, the distinctly sharp shoe is simply impracticality in its most feminist-inhibiting form. To others, heels that tower ever higher, ever more constrictive, are something of an art [...]
saddle woes

So, yes, I did watch Paris-Roubaix on Sunday. Yes I saw FabCan dominate the last 45km and be all like PEACE OUT, BITCHES!!!!, and yes I saw Boonen come in a measly fifth. And yes, there is now a dope t-shirt about the events of last Sunday. And yes, I finally got back on my [...]
